DANNY GOLD FEATURING ABA TAFT
CAPITOL NATION
Emerging from the rough and tumble streets of Newport News in a section they called “The Bottom,” Daniel Goldstone forged a path towards his dreams of being in the music business like some of the stars he met in his youth—people like Charlie McClendon, The Five Keys, “Baby” Lloyd Stallworth of James Brown’s Fabulous Flames, The Avalons, The Chateaus, and The Leaders. Then there were his friends and associates like Little Joe & the Every Day People, the Poindexter brothers and The Persuaders, Al Johnson and The Unifics, and a guitar playing wizard and friend, David Williams.
Goldstone would sing on the corner of 25th Street and Jefferson Avenue (Two-Five & J) like the rest of the top singers of the area in that era, learning to blend and harmonize and carve out their own unique styles, but he had plans to form his own groups who would sing songs he wrote and produced himself. Starting as a drummer and then moving to the vocals, first Goldstone was with a group called The Collegians, and then he formed The Deceptions who recorded records and toured the country. Later he did the same with a group known as Royalty before forming the group Peace, Justice and Equality before he went with Danny Gold & Co.
As time went on, Daniel Goldstone opened record stores and worked as an independent record promoter for many of the major and independent labels in the country, where he found himself with some of the biggest names, legends, and pioneers in the business, including the artists behind some of the music he grew up listening to and the creators behind some of the biggest acts in the country.
It was during this time that Goldstone went solo for awhile as Danny Gold. He later teamed up with one of his former guitarist and music director, A.B.A. Taft, and recorded under the name of Danny Gold & Co. featuring A.B.A. Taft, as well as a release under the name Capitol Nation.
But whether it was then as The Collegians; The Deceptions; Peace, Justice & Equality; or Danny Gold & Co.; or now as Danny Gold; Capitol Nation; or Danny Gold & Co. featuring A.B.A. Taft, it has all been Daniel Goldstone Behind the Mask.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
DISCOVERING GOLD IN THE SOUND OF VIRGINIA
Historic VA Record Label Is At It Again
Digging into a stack of old, vinyl records on a shelf in a Norfolk thrift store, searching for a rare find to sell to record collectors, Daniel Goldstone spotted a familiar label TSOV (The Sound of Virginia) Records. It was a record he produced on a label he started some 30 plus years earlier; a label still in demand by record collectors all over the world.
Records from the TSOV label regularly sell for $50 -- $300 on the web, with eager buyers from France, Germany, England, Japan, Russia, and even in California, Chicago, Texas, and New York. Goldstone’s TSOV label, along with his Stone Gold Records label, has a unique sound which some collectors have labeled as VA Funk, probably because it was Goldstone himself, setting the unique groove on drums and adding his forceful vocals to the mix. This added to his hats as label owner, songwriter, producer and arranger.
Goldstone produced a variety of genre on his Peninsula based labels during the 70s, 80s, and 90s, including Electro Dance, R&B ballads, and Rap records. One song, “Of All the Hearts” went gold in Japan. Goldstone had originally performed it with The Deceptions, later with another group he fronted, Peace, Justice & Equality. Later, he recorded a solo version of the song under the name of Danny Gold. A quick Google search reveals a number of fans posting versions of the song on YouTube, along with other releases from the TSOV label, as well as trading them online.
Recently, Goldstone teamed up with his original guitarist, A.B.A. Taft, to go back in the studio to record a new album. Taft has been living in Hong Kong for the past seven years as a performing and session guitarist, on his own, or working with some of the major Asian Pop and R&B artists, like Hins Cheung and Eason Chan. Before then, Taft could be found in Miami, Florida, touring, recording, and jamming on stage with artists like Prince, KC & the Sunshine Band, Betty Wright, CL Blast, Bruce Springsteen, Clarence Clemmons, and even Madonna.
The new album, released May 1, is entitled City Jam, by Danny Gold & Co. featuring A.B.A. Taft. It includes a new version of “Of All the Hearts,” along with some new songs. Already, one radio station in the area, WGPL 1350 AM, has added that song, and a jazzy sounding, “Give Your Love to Me,” plus the funky, “Tickle Me,” into regular rotation with a good response from listeners. Other stations are currently considering adding songs from the just released album to their playlist.
City Jam is a mixture of R&B, Funk, Jazz and even a taste of Rock with ballads, grooves which make you want to dance, as well as tracks to lay back and be mellow.
Recently, several licensing companies have contacted Daniel Goldstone to license his catalog of music, including City Jam, for use in commercials, TV shows, films, and to repress and re-release some of the songs on vinyl for sells to record collectors and music fans around the globe.
City Jam can be found in local record stores, CD Baby, Amazon, iTunes, and other online outlets. It may also be ordered at TSOVrecords.com.
